    hemp sample.jpeg
Ingredients - Industrial Hemp with Mineral Binder

Products:

  • Structural Building Material
  • Structural Insulating Panel (SIP)
  • Demountable Partition Wall System
  • Exterior Finish Insulation System (EFIS) - rigid or spray applications
  • Structural-Insulating Roofing Panel
  • Floor structure and decking
  • Earthquake resistant structural coating for earth block walls
  • Architectural mouldings
  • Manufactured Products: Ductworks, enclosures, mouldings, extrusions, blocks, panels, shapes and profiles, building components, doors, speaker enclosures, bird houses.
  • Acoustic barrier, sound proofing, fire proofing, acoustic panels, sound enclosures, noise barriers
  • Cast earth-cellulose form system

Characteristics:

  • Composed from agricultural cellulose and minerals, this material may have potential as a strong and resistant product
  • for use in building construction, with production at either cottage industry or mass production levels using local
  • materials and labour.
  • Interior or exterior surfaces can be moulded to have functional and decorative features.
  • Oriented strands of cellulose fibres increase strength.
  • Density of the material can be manipulated.
  • Some products are suitable to be made or applied with portable equipment, while others would be extruded or moulded into shape as baseboards, trim, doors and jambs, or structural profiles

Properties:

Unconfined compressive strength 350 psi
Rainbow Engineering Limited, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Dr. Jack Liu, P. Eng.

Density: 800 kg/cubic Meter approximately. Various densities available.

Fire rating not tested. Sound Transmission not tested. Heat conductance not tested. Similar materials have no flame spread and excellent sound damping functions, with moderately successful R values, according to German tests of light clay traditional building material. German Study by Franz Volhard:  Leichtlehmbau, alter Baustoff - neue Technik, Unter Mitarbeit von Ute Schauer, Verlag C. F. Muller GmbH, Karlsruhe.
